Poetry Day Ireland is a major annual one-day festival of poetry produced by Poetry Ireland. In 2019 the theme was Truth or Dare, with participants encouraged to ‘speak their truth, or dare to see the world differently.’
The design celebrates this idea of challenge and exploration. Themes are illustrated within a strict labyrinthian grid, the duality expressed by two distinct colours.
While the general theme of the day was communicated with posters and digital banners, individual ‘truth’, and ‘dare’ poster poems were also displayed on public transport, in schools, and online.
And a series of 14 postcard poems were printed. The illustrations on the front of each derive from the ideas in the poems on the reverse, encouraging discovery, searching for meaning.
